Laura’s journey to founding JUL Designs in her basement began in Bali, Indonesia! Laura will share the story of how her PhD field research led to collaboration and close relationships with Bali's skilled artisans and the commitment to people and place that is at the heart of JUL Designs. Casapinka (Bronwyn) is a design-crazed woman who likes bright colors (especially pink), slipped stitches, and variegated yarn. She has one employee (Sharon From Security, a cantankerous kitten) who is lazy and not always helpful. Sharon is often found sleeping in her squad car or arguing with Jean From I.T. which are topics of conversation on Bronwyn's social media. Most of her (Casapinka's, not Sharon's) knitting patterns are fairly simple because her attention wanders easily, so she lets the yarn and pretty colors most of the work.
Ann Budd is an author of more than a dozen ever popular knitting books, a devoted teacher who helps other develop their own approach to knitting and designing, and is the founder of Knit for Fun Retreats. A current passion of Ann’s is helping raise awareness around Alzheimer’s Disease and the fight against it, as more of her friends and family become victims. Hear how Ann is contributing to the fight against Alzheimer’s, and what she’s been up to lately!
